Abstract

Within hours or minutes, short-term hearing loss will diminish or disappear after leaving the noisy area. However, permanent hearing loss will occur with repeated exposure to noise. Tinnitus is the sensation of the perception of sound without an external sound source, usually a buzzing or ringing sound. The meat grinding business in Palembang is a very popular business. This increases the risk of hearing loss among workers, especially meat mill workers in Palembang. Therefore, it is necessary to measure noise and the severity of hearing loss in meat mill workers in Palembang so that occupational diseases do not occur. The type of research used in this research is analytical research with a quantitative approach. The results of this study are that 23 people (40%), who have the most high noise exposure intensity >88 dbA (40%), and low noise intensity <88 dbA as many as 34 people (60%) at the Palembang traditional market meat mill. Then, 12 workers (21%) had very mild tinnitus, 11 workers (20%) had mild tinnitus, 28 workers (49%) had moderate tinnitus, and 8 workers (10%) complained of severe tinnitus. Recommendations for control that can be done are by installing noise dampers on milling machines, replacing machine components that are old and have a risk of causing danger, limiting time at work, establishing cooperation between business actors and the government in handling noise in the workplace, and using PPE in the form of earmuffs. or earplugs.
