Abstract
The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of machining parameters on the process of sanding the surface roughness teak wood (Tectona grandis) using Response Surface Methodology. The main machining parameters such as the feed rate and grit size of sandpaper are used as independent variables. The dependent variable in this study is the roughness parameters Ra, Rq, and Rk. Empirical equation mathematical model for each response surface roughness is made in the factor coded and analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to analyze the mathematical models of empirical equations. From the mathematical model equations Ra, Rq and Rk was found that the grit size effect is greater than the feed rate. The greater feed rate the surface roughness resulting will be more rougher and the larger the grit size of the sandpaper is used, then the surface roughness resulting will be more smoother.
