Abstract

FIFA WORLD CUP is a world-class event for every country to have a role as host in thisprestigious event. This is also a program that is targeted to be obtained by the Indonesian government in 2021. This issue was raised because not all countries could follow the process to host the FIFA WORLD CUP U-20 and the benefits generated, especiallyeconomically, often hurt the hosts. The purpose of this paper is to seek and known the reasons or factors that become the basis for consideration, why Indonesia volunteered to host the FIFA WORLD CUP. In participating in the selection process to host the FIFA WORLD CUP U-20, several requirements and fees mustbe met. It cannotbe deniedthat this event requires large funds. However, how these requirements and costs have a positive impact on the progress of Indonesia, the authors analyze this paperusing document-based and internet. The author will answer withthe concept of six driving factors for a country to organize a major event such as the Olympics, namely economy, tourism, image, social and culture, globalization and modernization, as well as regional competitions. These six factors also underliewhat Indonesia has done in proposing itself as a candidate to host the FIFA WORLD CUP U-21.
