Abstract
Background : Nowadays, Family Planning programme in Indonesia has been recognized nationally and intemationally. It has been successful to control total fertility rate (TFR). The reducing TFR is followed by the increasing of contraception using / Contraceptive Prevalence Rate (CPR ). The users of IUD has increased. Indirectly, the increasing number of IUD users influence the continuation of the IUD The continuation of IUD using in 2010 at Palembang city is very high, that is 95,5 %. Because data about the continuation of IUD using in 2011 at Palembang city hasn’t been found, so that this research is aimed to know the continuation of using IUD and factors that influence it in Palembang city, especially in Sako district. Method : This research is an analytic descriprive research with cross- sectional design. The population of this research is all active family planning participants in 2010 who used IUD at work area of Multiwahana Public Health Center. The minimal sample is 62 respondents. Data is collected by filling the self-assessmet questionnaire by the respondents. The result of the research is shown in table form and narrative. The data is analyzed by univariate analysis, bivariate analysis, and multivariate analysis with SPSS versi 19. Result: There are 65 respondents who participated in this research. The respondents who kept using IUD for 12 months was 92,3 %. Factors that have a significant correlation with the continuation of using IUD is comfort ( p = 0,000 ), husband’s support ( p = 0,000 ), the quality of family planning Service (p = 0,000 ) and access of family planning Service (p = 0,000 ). The factors that have not correlation with the continuation of using IUD is knowledge ( p=0,280), age ( p = 0,156), and parity (p = 0,393). Conclussion : The continuation of using IUD rate in 2011 was very high statistically in Palembang city, especially in Sako district. The continuation of IUD using is influenced comfort, husband’s support, the quality of family planning Service, and access of family planning Service.
