Abstract

Cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.) is one of the horticultural plants of the family Solanaceae that has a high economic value. Cayenne pepper can be used for the cooking seasoning industry and medicines/ herbs. In addition to being used as vegetables or cooking spices, cayenne pepper has the ability to increase farmers' income. The productivity of cayenne pepper in Indonesia is still low on average. Cayenne pepper has not been optimal in national production, due to many factors, including plant-disturbing insects (PESTS), one of which is a fruit fly pest. The use of bacteria in the rhizosphere has made it a potential source for the availability of nutrients in the soil and encourages plant growth, so that it can help increase the productivity of chili plants. This study aims to study the role of PGPR as a substance that can increase growth and control sprouting disease in plants. This research has been carried out in the backyard, Department of Pests and Plant Diseases, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya. The research will be carried out from September until completion. Soil samples are taken from the root of bamboo root plants. Using the experimental method with a Randomized Group Design (RAK) with 6 treatments repeated 4 times, 24 treatment units were obtained, each container containing 15 cayenne pepper seeds. The results showed that the lowest intensity of pre emergence damping off was found in the treatment of bamboo root rhizosphere 25ml / L (P5), while the lowest intensity of pre emergence damping off was found in the treatment of bamboo root rhizosphere 15ml / L (P3), 20ml / L (P4) and 30ml / L (P6) of 0.71%. Keywords: PGPR, Chilli, and Damping-off Diseases.
