Abstract

Organic waste is a problem that becomes a challenge, if not managed properly. Burned organic waste can cause air pollution which creates a greenhouse gas effect. One alternative for processing organic waste is its utilization into bokashi. Utilization of organic waste into bokashi helps reduce piles of organic waste that cannot be managed. Utilization of bokashi as a planting medium also provides more benefits besides being able to reduce organic waste that cannot be managed as well as the end result in the form of bokashi which can be used as organic fertilizer that can increase agricultural yields. This study aims to determine how to make bokashi fertilizer from organic waste and then find out its effect as a planting medium for plant growth compared to conventional fertilizers. This research was conducted from November 2021 to February 2022. Located in Lrg. Tunggal V Nu. 99, Bukit Baru, Ilir Barat I. Palembang, South Sumatra. The research design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 treatments and each treatment was repeated 5 times. The bokashi measurement parameters are temperature, bokashi pH, bokashi color and bokashi aroma. Plant measurement parameters were plant height, number of leaves, age at flowering, and number of flowers. Data from observations will be calculated using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). If between treatments found significantly different results, then further tests will be carried out with BNJ spacing at 5% level with 95% confidence level.
