Abstract

Mangrove has the ability to accumulate heavy metals in aquatic ecosystems. Air Telang Protected Forest is a dominant coastal area that is used by local people in various activities such as fishing, industrial activities, household waste disposal, settlements, port and water transportation. Human activities around Air Telang Protected Forest can cause the potential for heavy metal pollution. This research was conducted from August 2021 to July 2022 in Air Telang Protected Forest, Banyuasin, South Sumatra and aims to obtain data on the values of lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu) found in roots, bark and leaves as well as the value of the Bioconcentration Factor (BCF), Translocation Factor (TF) and Phytoremediation (FTD) on the Air Telang Protected Forest. Heavy metal content obtained at the mangrove rehabilitation site with Pb with highest values 6.01Mg/kg, Cd <0.54, and Cu 3.43 mg/kg. Heavy metals found in natural mangroves have the highest values of Pb 6.92mg/kg, Cd 0.54, Cu 1.62mg/kg. The BCF value obtained at the rehabilitation mangrove location obtained the highest metals are Pb 0.92, Cd 1, Cu 0.09 while the highest BCF of natural mangrove location was Pb 1.26, Cd 1, Cu 0.05. The TF values of Pb, Cd, Cu at the rehabilitation site are 1.13, 1, 0.83. Natural 1.19, 1, 0.82. Rhizophora mucronata in Air Telang Protected Forest can be a bioaccumulator of heavy metals Pb and Cd with a phytoextraction mechanism but has not shown phytoremediation capabilities because the FTD value is low with the highest value of 0.07.
