Abstract
The research aims to study the effectiveness of a ceramic filter to treat the swamp water. Filtration was conducted by using a slow sand filter followed by a ceramic filter. The spons filter with 0.1 um, 0.3 um, 0.5 um, 10 um of pore sizes respectivelty were used as the pretreatment. Effect of operating pressure on the permeate quality was studied. The parameters determine in this experiment are pH, Electrical Conductivity (EC), Total Dissolved Solid (TDS), Total Suspended Solid (TSS), Ammonia (NH3), silica (SiO2), chlorine (Cl-), sulfate (SO42-), iron , nitrate, and the total hardness. The results showed that the filtration process was not significantly affected the pH of permeate. However, others parameter such as ammonia, silica, sulfate, iron, nitrate, and total hardness decreased with the operation time.
