Abstract
The research is aimed to study the effect of ceramic filter in treatment of domestic water at campus of Sriwijaya University. Small-scale experiment rig was developed to treat the domestic water using filtration method with ceramic filter. The rig also equipped with the pretreatment system using silica, zeolite and carbon active. Ceramic filters are made from natural clay, fly-ash and iron powder at ratio of 77.5%: 20%: 2.5% respectively. The results showed an increase in water quality that meets the requirements of drinking water standard. The metal ions were decreased significantly. For instance, iron and zinc contents reduced to 99% and pH tend to be neutral which is about 6.9.
