Abstract

Alang-alang (Imperata cylindrica (L.) Beauv.) merupakan tumbuhan yang banyak terdapat di Indonesia. Secara kimia alang-alang mengandung manitol, glukosa, sukrosa,malic acid, citric acid, coixol, arundoin, alkali, cylindrin, simiarenol, anemonim, turunan flavonoid, dan damar. Alang-alang memiliki efek antipiretik, diuretik, dan hemostatik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek antipiretik infusum batang alang-alang terhadap penurunan suhu tubuh serta perbedaan efek dari masing-masing konsentrasi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimental laboratoris. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 30 ekor mencit putih jantan dengan berat badan 30-35 gram yang dibagi dalam 5 kelompok sampel. Penelitian ini menggunakan infusum batang alang-alang konsentrasi 20%, 30%, dan 40% per oral dengan aquades sebagai kontrol negatif dan parasetamol sebagai kontrol positif. Sebelumnya semua mencit diinduksi vaksin DPT intramuskular. Efek antipiretik diukur dengan termometer digital pada daerah rektal mencit. Data yang diperoleh diuji dengan uji statistik ANOVA satu arah dan Tukey-Bonferroni. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan antara kelompok perlakuan aquades dengan kelompok perlakuan lainnya ( a < 0,05 ). Dimana infusum batang alang-alang konsentrasi 40% memberikan efek antipiretik terbaik dibandingkan dengan kelompok lainnya. Kata kunci : infusum batang alang-alang, antipiretik, obat tradisional
