Abstract
The paper addressed the desalination technologies in Australia and its prospect for capturing the opportunity of freshwater supply in the country. Several technologiest are available for providing fresh water from seawater and brackish water. The most interesting technology in water supply in the near future is Reverse Osmosis (RO). The development of RO technologiest particularly for membranes are considered as a factor to reduced the cost of water supply from various water sources including wastewater.
