Abstract

Vaccine management must be carried out and administered according to established procedures to ensure good quality. The entire process of vaccine management down to the service level must maintain the quality of the vaccine so that it remains high and effective so that there is no AEFI or unwanted medical events after immunization, including the failure of vaccines to generate immunity in the human body. This study aims to analyze the process of storing, monitoring temperature, and managing the Covid-19 vaccine during service in the work area of the Ogan Ilir District Health Office. This research was conducted in a qualitative descriptive manner, the research informants consisted of the person in charge of pharmacy at the public health center, the immunization officer at the public health center, the head of the district pharmacy installation, and the sub-coordinator of surveillance and immunization at the Health Office of Ogan Ilir Regency. The data collection technique was carried out by Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the informant in charge of pharmacy at the public health center. Then in-depth interviews were conducted with the head of the district pharmacy installation and the sub-coordinator of surveillance and immunization of the Health Service of Ogan Ilir District. As well as direct observation and document review in 16 health centers. The results showed that the management of the Covid-19 vaccine at the public health center was not carried out properly so it could potentially damage the quality of the Covid-19 vaccine due to the cold chain/vaccine refrigerator conditions, constraints in the storage process, the condition of temperature monitoring equipment and service support equipment. The inappropriate management of the Covid-19 vaccine that occurs can be indicated by the influencing factors, namely storage, temperature monitoring, and vaccine management during service. This study concludes that the potential for damage to the quality of the Covid-19 vaccine at the public health center can occur so it is necessary to carry out management activities for the management of the Covid-19 vaccine by SOPs to ensure that the quality of the vaccine remains high and maintained.
