Abstract

Background: WHO defined anemia in pregnancy as a condition when the hemoglobin (Hb) level is less than 11 g/dL. Some of the maternal risk factors for anemia in pregnant women are age, number of paritiy, spacing of pregnancy, and multiple pregnancy. Apart from causing anemia, these factors can also trigger preterm labour. Riskesdas data (2018) shows the prevalence of anemia in pregnant women is 48.9% and is still relatively high. The aim of the study was to determine the total number of delivery, the prevalence of anemia in pregnant women in preterm labor, and to determine the relationship between maternal risk factors and the incidence of anemia in pregnant women in preterm labor at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in 2021. Method: This study used an observational analytic method with a cross-sectional design. The data used is secondary data, namely the medical records of pregnant women in premature labor at the Medical Records Installation of RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in 2021. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square Test. Results: The total number of deliveries is 1,288. The prevalence of preterm labor is 21.66%. The prevalence of anemia in pregnant women in preterm labor is 59.86%. Of the 268 pregnant women, 167 (62.3%) had anemia. The results of the analysis using the Chi-Square test showed no significant relationship between age (p-value 0.083), number of parities (p-value 0.343), gestational spacing (p-value 0.276), and multiple pregnancies (p-value 0.806) (p>0.05) with the incidence of anemia in pregnant women in preterm labor. Conclusion: The relationship between age, number of parities, spacing of pregnancies, and multiple pregnancies to the incidence of anemia in pregnant women in preterm labor was not significant statistically. Keywords: anemia, preterm labor, age, number of parities, interval of pregnancy, multiple pregnancy.
