Abstract

This study discusses the Indonesian government's strategy in encouraging the development of the mobile phone industry and its implementation. This study aims to see how the strategies carried out by the Indonesian government in encouraging the development of the domestic mobile phone industry and the implementation of the strategies to be carried out. This study uses a qualitative approach using descriptive analytical research methods. By using primary and secondary data obtained through interviews and documentation obtained from the Ministry of Industry, Directorate General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment and Electronics Industries as well as literature from various relevant sources. The results of the study are shown through three indicators, namely government regulations, industrial regulations, the government as a catalyst and challenger. Based on these three indicators, it can be seen that the strategy taken by the Indonesian government in encouraging the development of the domestic mobile phone industry is going very well so that it can reduce the import of mobile phone and encourage an increase in domestic mobile phone production. In addition, the Indonesian government opens access to foreign investment, technology transfer, and industrial infrastructure development in enhancing the development of the mobile phone industry.
