Abstract

Traditional health services in Indonesia have increased in use over the last few years. In Indonesia, the proportion of utilization of traditional health services for health workers is still not evenly distributed between regions and there has been no research that discusses the use of traditional health services for health workers by region in the last decade. The purpose of this study was to analyze the use of traditional health services for health workers by region in Indonesia and the factors that influence it. This study uses secondary data from the 2018 Basic Health Research. The research sample is 120.897 respondents who use traditional health services by the community for health workers. Data were analyzed using Quantum GIS and binary logistic regression statistical tests. The results showed that respondents who used traditional health services for health workers in Indonesia were 2.8%. The highest proportion of utilization of traditional health services for health workers is in the Sulawesi region at 5.6% and the lowest proportion of utilization of traditional health services for health workers is in the Java-Bali region at 2.5%. Respondents who live in the Sulawesi, Papua, and Maluku Islands regions have a higher chance of utilizing traditional health services compared to respondents in the Java-Bali region. Variables related to the use of traditional health services for health workers are the area of residence in the Nusa Tenggara region, education status in the Nusa Tenggara region, employment status in the Nusa Tenggara region, gender in the Sulawesi region, age in the Sumatra, Java-Bali region, and Sulawesi, travel time in the Java-Bali region. This study shows that there are differences in the use of traditional health services for health workers between regions in Indonesia. The government is expected to make efforts to improve the facilities and infrastructure of health service facilities and to increase partnerships through strengthening cross-program and cross-sector networks through advocacy, outreach, and orientation.
