Abstract

Computer networks have an important role in carrying out various kinds of work activities. VLANs can limit users who can access data, thereby reducing the possibility of abuse of access rights. Virtual LAN is built because of the concept of subnetting and LAN (Local Area Network). Virtual LAN can also be referred to as the development of a LAN. LAN network is a network that is in one broadcast domain that local area networks can be further developed with virtual local area network technology because this network model is not limited to physical locations. Likewise with the virtual access point which is wireless on Mikrotik which can create many SSIDs in a wireless internet. virtual access point can affect network performance by increasing packet loss and delay followed by decreasing throughput on the network. In order to run on a wireless network, the use of VAP on a wireless network requires a virtual local area network. The advantage of using a local area network is that it excels in dividing a network into two or more smaller networks. By dividing a large network into two smaller networks, the broadcast domain becomes smaller, resulting in an increase in throughput. virtual local area network and virtual access point can improve the performance of the network that is deployed. Keywords: implementation, VLAN, LAN, WLAN, VAP
