Abstract

Background: Building Related Illness (BRI) is a disease that occurs in non-industrial and non-residential buildings. These diseases include diseases caused by agent that cause infectious, immunological and allergic symptoms, as well as a heterogeneous group of occupational related symptoms. This study aims to determine the incidence of Building Related Illness and analyze its relationship with air physical factors and individual psyhosocial characteristics of workers on the 1st floor of the Gedung Presisi Polda Sumsel. Methods: This research is a descriptive observational study with total sampling. The data taken This research is an observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design. Sampling using Total Sampling with a total of 100 workers. Data were obtained by measuring air quality samples and journal Health & Safety at Work 2011 and DASS42 questionnaires. Data were analyzed through univariate, bivariate (chi-square method), and multivariate. Results: The results of this study showed that of the 100 workers on the 1st Floor of the South Sumatra Police Presisi Building who were the respondents, 36 (36%) indicated that they had BRI and 64 other workers did not. There was no significant relationship between particulates (PM1, PM2,5, dan PM10) (p-value -), temperature (p- value - ), humidity (p-value 0.184), lighting (p-value 1 ) , length of work (p-value 0.315), work pressure (p-value 0), moral support (p-value 0.617), and working hours per day (p-value 0.056). There is a significant relationship between the age (p-value 0.047), gender (p-value 0.001), years of service (p-value 0.029), and working hours per week (p-value 0.015) and the incidence of SBS with the most complaints being flu and sneezing (38,8%) while the symptom that did not have any complaints was shortness of breath (0%). Conclusion: There is no significant relationship between indoor air Physical quality, individual factors, and psychosocial factors with the incidence of BRI in workers on the 1st Floor of the South Sumatra Police Presisi Building.
