Abstract
Background: Acinetobacter baumannii is a species of gram negative bacteria that frequently infects hospitalized patients and causes a lot of nosocomial infections. These bacteria is a major threat for healthcare system because of their increasing incidence of infection caused by these bacteria and their increasing resistance to antibiotics. Resistance of A. baumannii to antibiotics makes treatment of infected patients more complicated and could increase patient’s mortality and morbidity, and could also increase treatment costs because of the long-stay in hospital and complicated treatment. Method: This was an observational descriptive study using laboratory medical record, done at Central Laboratory RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang from July 2021 to June 2022 using total sampling method. Data acquired were analyzed univariately using SPSS version 26 and presented in tables and descriptive narations. Result: There were 1407 specimens acquired from 746 hospitalized patients with Acinetobacter baumannii infection. There were 137 pediatric patients (0-18 year old), 392 adult patients (19-59 year old), and 217 elderly patients (≥60 year old). There are 386 male patients and 360 female patients. There were many type of specimens including sputums, bloods, pus, and others. About 297 patients were from ICU rooms and 449 from non-ICU treatment rooms. The antibiotic susceptibility test result showed that these bacteria is sensitive to tigecycline and amikacin and resistant to cefazoline, ceftriaxone, ceftazdime. Conclusion: Susceptibillity pattern of Acinetobacter baumannii to Antibiotics showed that these bacteria was most sensitive to tigecycline (83,35) and amikacin (79,7%). Keyword: Acinetobacter baumannii, hospitalized patients, antibiotic resistance.
