Abstract

On December 31 2019, there was an outbreak of respiratory tract disease which was later proven to be caused by a corona virus infection. Supporting examinations in the form of radiological examinations are one of the examinations that can be carried out on COVID-19 patients. In addition to observing chest X-ray results, the scoring system can also be used as a semiquantitative evaluation to determine the severity of thoracic involvement in COVID-19 patients. This research was carried out by the authors to conduct research on the correlation between age and sex with the severity index of chest radiography in COVID-19 patients at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in 2021-2022 The research design used is observational analytic with a cross-sectional approach. The data used in this study is retrospective data. Samples that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were 100 patients. The research data were analyzed using the 26th edition of the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) software. In this study, the results showed that the majority of patients were young adults (33%), women (55%), accompanied by symptoms of shortness of breath (31.58%). There was no correlation between age and chest radiography severity index with p = 0.150 and there was no correlation between sex and chest radiography severity index with p = 0.782. In this study there was no correlation between age and sex with the chest radiographic severity index. Keywords: COVID-19, Age, Sex, Chest-X-ray, radiographic severity index.
