Abstract

Backgrounds. COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2), with a mortality rate in Indonesia (CFR: 3.4%) higher than that in the world (CFR: 1.8%). This study aims to determine the risk factors for death in COVID-19 patients at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin 2021. Methods. This analytic observational study with a cross-sectional approach used 221 patient medical records at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in 2021 with the total sampling method. Inductive analysis was performed using binary logistic regression analysis. Results. The results showed that age ≥60 years (95%CI 1.780–7.325) and diabetes mellitus (95%CI 1.235–16.148) are significant risk factors for death in COVID-19 patients at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Conclusions. The death rate for COVID-19 patients at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang is 19%. age ≥60 years and diabetes mellitus are significant risk factors for death in COVID-19 patients at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang.
