Abstract

Background: Eyes are one of the most important senses for humans, humans can absorb visual information that is used to carry out various activities through the eyes. However, there are many sight disorders, ranging from mild disorders to severe disorders such as cataracts and glaucoma which can lead to blindness. Glaucoma is the number 2 cause of blindness in Indonesia. The incidence of glaucoma in 2040 is estimated to reach 111.8 million cases with the incidence of blindness being found to be more frequent in patients with angle-closure glaucoma. This study aims to obtain information about the characteristics of patients with primary angle closure glaucoma at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang Methods: This research is a descriptive study using secondary data in the form of medical records. The sample is the entire accessible population that meets the inclusion criteria because the sampling technique used in this study is total sampling. Results: Primary angle closed glaucoma patient at RSUP DR. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang for the January-July 2022 period the majority are 41-64 years old (83.8%). Most gender is female (73%). Family history was obtained (81.1%) who did not have family history data with similar diseases. Intraocular pressure after receiving therapy was found to be at most ≤ 21 mmHg (82%). The majority of patients' vision was in the normal category or had mild abnormalities (39.3%). The majority of patients with primary angle-closure glaucoma received medical therapy (62.3%) and the most common diagnosis was PACG (62.3%). Conclusion: From this study, it was found that patients with primary angle closure glaucoma at RSUP DR. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang for the January-July 2022 period, most are 40-64 years old. The majority are female. Intraocular pressure after receiving therapy was found to be at most ≤ 21 mmHg. The most widely given therapy is medical and the most frequently diagnosed is PACG.
