Abstract

Background: Malignant lymphoma is a hematological malignancy that has the potential to spread to the lymph nodes and other organs. Malignant lymphomas are classified as Hodgkin Lymphoma (HL) and non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL), with NHL being more common than HL. This study was conducted to determine the clinicopathological characteristics of malignant lymphoma patients at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Method: This type of research is descriptive with a cross-sectional design conducted in October-November 2022 with total sampling as a sample. The sample of this study was data that had been diagnosed histopathologically as malignant lymphoma in the medical records of the Anatomical Pathology Department/Medical Staff Group and the medical record installation of RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in the period January 2019-December 2021. Data from medical records will be processed using the SPSS 26 application in the form of tables and narratives. Result: Of the 101 samples diagnosed with malignant lymphoma, there were 94 samples (93.1%) NHL and 7 samples (6.9%) HL. Malignant lymphoma patients were mostly found at the age >60 years (28.7%) and were male (59.4%). Most of the tumor sites were nodal (53.5%), tumor size <10 cm (93.1%), and the most common therapy was chemotherapy (96.0%). The most common type of NHL was DLBCL (72.3%). In HL, the type that is often found is NSCHL (57.1%). Conclusion: The most frequently found malignant lymphoma is NHL with the most subtype, namely DLBCL. The most abundant HL subtype is NSCHL. In NHL and HL most commonly found in males, the location of the tumor is nodal, the size of the tumor is <10 cm, and the therapy given is chemotherapy. NHL is mostly found at the age of >60 years and HL is found at the age of <20 years and 21-30 years. Keywords: Hodgkin lymphoma, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, characteristics, histopathology.
