Abstract
The T peak - T end interval is a parameter in the ECG that can show the dispersion pattern of ventricular repolarization. Prolonged repolarization dispersion is known to be a risk factor for ventricular arrhythmias through the mechanism of reentrant arrhythmogenesis. Thus, the T peak – T end interval can be used to detect ventricular repolarization abnormalities and as a marker in the ECG, which is important for assessing the risk of ventricular arrhythmias. This study used a descriptive observational research method with a cross-sectional design. The data used were in the form of medical records, ECG results, and brief interviews with heart disease patients at the Cardiovascular Polyclinic at Siti Fatimah Hospital, South Sumatra who met the criteria during the study period. The sampling technique is total sampling. The number of samples in this study that met the criteria were 59 subjects. Most of the patients diagnosed with coronary heart disease (51.6%), male (71.2%), aged 40-59 years (47.5%), and accompanied by hypertension (64,4%). The median interval of T peak – T end for all subjects was 84 (68-164) ms. Patients with coronary heart disease have the longest median interval T peak – T end than any other diagnosis, with an interval length of 89 (68-130) ms. This study found the median interval of T peak – T end in coronary heart disease patients longer than other diagnosis. Patients with this diagnosis may have a greater risk of ventricular arrhythmias.
