Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pakan berprobiotik terhadap populasi bakteri, kualitas air media pemeliharaan dan histologi benih ikan gabus (Channa striata). Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 6 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan dengan kode perlakuan (D). Perlakuan yang dicobakan adalah Do (kontrol tanpa probiotik), Di (2,5 ml.kg'1 pakan), D2 (5 ml.kg'1 pakan), D3 (7,5 ml.kg'1 pakan), D4 (10 ml.kg'1 pakan), D5 (12,5 ml.kg'1 pakan). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan bulan November — Desember 2012, di Laboratorium Dasar Perikanan Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Sriwijaya, Indralaya, dan Balai Karantina Ikan, Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Palembang. Data populasi bakteri, kualitas air dan histologi dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian yang telah dilaksanakan bahwa bahwa penambahan probiotik dengan kosentrasi 10 ml.kg'1 pakan dalam media pemeliharaan ikan gabus memberikan pengaruh baik terhadap kelangsungan hidup (63,33%). Histologi pada usus terdapat enteritis, lepasnya epitel tunika serosa, dan histologi pada hati terdapat kongesti, nekrosis, hemoragi.
