Abstract
Introduction: Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a gram negative rod bacteria that rarely becomes normal flora in hwnans. Pseudomonas aeruginosa colonization may exceed 50% of the normal colonization during hospitalization so that Pseudomonas aeruginosa frequently cause nosocomial infections. In fact, many studies reported the increasing incidence of infection and resistance of Pseudomonas aeruginosa to some antibiotics that make it more difficult to reduce Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections. The purpose of the study was to identify and determine the sensitivity pattern of Pseudomonas aeruginosa from many specimens to antibiotics at Dr. Moh. Hoesin Hospital Palembang. Method: This study was a descriptive observational study using secondary data. The research data was derived from data of susceptibility test results in the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory Dr. Moh. Hoesin Hospital Palembang from July 2012-June 2013. Result: This study obtained 802 Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolate from various specimens. The most specimen that positively contains Pseudomonas aeruginosa were sputum. Pseudomonas aeruginosa has high sensitivity to imipenem (75,2%), amikacin, norfloxacin, sulbactam/cefoperazone, and ciprofloxacin, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa resistance to ampicillin sulbactam, amoxicillin clavulanic, ceftizoxime, meropenem, ceftriaxone, levofloxacin, cefotaxime, gentamicin, and cefepime. Conclusion: Pseudomonas aeruginosa has the highest sensitivity to imipenem and has the lowest sensitivity to ampisilin sulbactam.
