Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh ekstrak hipofisa ikan lele dumbo (EHL) dengan dosis berbeda terhadap motilitas dan konsentrasi sperma ikan baung, persentase penetasan telur dan kelangsungan hidup larva ikan baung sampai umur tiga hari. Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan di Balai Benih Ikan (BBI) Kecamatan Gandus, Kota Palembang, Provinsi Sumatera Selatan pada bulan Juni-Agustus 2010. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan dengan kode perlakuan P. Perlakuan yang dicobakan adalah P0 (kontrol), P1 (2 ml EHL/kg bobot induk), P2 (4 ml EHL/kg bobot induk) dan P3 (6 ml EHL/kg bobot induk). Parameter yang diamati adalah motilitas sperma, konsentrasi sperma, persentase penetasan, kelangsungan hidup larva sampai umur 3 hari dan kualitas air. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan P2 memberikan hasil motilitas sperma terbaik (skor 3), konsentrasi sperma tertinggi (549,17 x 104 sel/ml), persentase penetasan tertinggi (75,67%) dan kelangsungan hidup tertinggi (99,56%). Hasil pengukuran kualitas air masih berada dalam kisaran toleransi untuk pemeliharaa induk, penetasan telur dan pemeliharaan larva. Kualitas air untuk pemeliharaan induk ikan baung adalah suhu 30 °C, pH 6,8, DO 7,2 mg.1-1 dan amonia 0,08-0,10 mg l-1 sedangkan untuk penetasan telur dan pemeliharaan larva adalah suhu 27 °C, pH 6,5, DO 6,9-7,2 mg.1-1 dan amonia 0,08-0,11 mg.l-1.
