Abstract
This study aims to examine which sectors are the leading sectors in several districts of South Sumatra using the LQ (Location quotient) index. The data which is used in this research is panel data, consist of time series from 2010-2016 and cross section in 6 districts of South Sumatera. Multiple regression model is used to estimate the influence of LQ index against economic growth by using fixed effect method estimation. The results of this study indicate that each base sector has a significant influence on economic growth in several districts of South Sumatera and it is positively related. But, there is one base sector has a negative relationship to economic growth, that is primary sector, because in these six districts many sectors primers are managed and the results are distributed by the community themselves, lack of coordination with the government, so the government is not maximized in documenting the data.
