Abstract

Background: Sport injury is a form of trauma as a result of excercise. Sport injury occur due to inability of tissues (muscles, joint, tendon, skin) and other organs in receiving load during exercise. Clinical manifestations of the injury is characterized by inflammatory signs such rubor, tumor, dolor, kalor and fungsiolaesa. This study is find the description of injury in the past and the clinical impact on veteran athletes in South Sumatra. Method: This is a descriptive cross-sectional observational study, where the population are veteran athletes who have their identities recorded in KON/ South Sumatra; where all members of population were taken as sample for this study (n=26). Results: The incidence of injury among the athlete's history of veterans in South Sumatra was 92,3%. History of injury is more common in men than women with the percentage of 91,7% in man and 8,3% in women. The most dominant age/or injury in athletes, ranges between age 20-30 years old which was 54,2%. The most common clinical manifestation of the injury found a veteran athletes with history of injury is 91,7% .The knee and the angkle happens to have the highest frequency of injury with the same percentage of 29,2%. The percentage of recurrent complain on the same joint or body part with the history of injury is 62,5 % and the most frequent clinical symptom is pain with 50%. Conclusion: The clinical symptom which is most common experienced by athletes who have a history of injury is pain which occurs in the same part with percentage of 50%.
