Abstract

Background Ovarian neoplasm is abnormal new growth of ovarian, which cell multiplication happened uncontrolled and Progressive. Ovarian cancer is one of neoplasms in ovarium and taking place in the second highest incidence o f malignancy case in ovarium. Many risk factors influence ovarian neoplasm incidences, such as age, parity, and unstabile hormone in woman. Objective The aim of this study was to know the prevalence of ovarian neoplasm based on age, parity, tvpe and size of neoplasm in obstetric and gvnecologic departement of RSMH Palembang, September 2012 - September 2013 Method This was an analytical descriptive study, bv using cross-sectional design. Data was collected from 159 medical records in RSMH. Data are then analyzed using SPSS to test hypothesis using Chi-square correlation test. Result There was only one case excluded from 159 cases based on participation criterias. There were 65 cases of ovarian neoplasm (41,1%) happened in <40 years old, and 93 cases happened in >40tahun (58,9%). Most of neoplasm found in sized of >10 cm (64%), and the rest 16 (10,1%) found in sized of <10 cm. There were 16 cases (10,1%) of ovarian tumor and 142 cases of ovarian cancer (89,9%). Most of cases found in multipara (65,8%) and the rest 34,2% found in nullipara Analysis show that there was a significant correlation between age and neoplasm malignancy with p<0,05 and between parity and neoplasm malignancy with p<0,05. Conclusion Age and paritas have a corelation and became the risk factor of ovarian neoplasm malignancy
