Abstract

Background: Infertility is the inability of a couple to achieve pregnancy over an average period of one year without use of birth control means and while having normal sexual intercourse. Approximately 8-10% of couples are facing some kind of infertility problem. Infertility is divided into primary and secondary infertility. The high percentage of female factors in relation to infertility and the existing studies on the infertility related factors in women leads to the researcher interest to study the factors influencing infertility in women. Method: This study is an observasional descriptive study with cross sectional design based on secondary data collected ffom medical records. Results: The majority (71%) of infertile women in this study were within the 25- 35 years old age group. Most of the infertile women were career women (66.1%) and Palembang residents (69.4%), and had been infertile for more than three years (61.3%). The most commonly conducted examinations are USG and diagnostic laparoscopy. Endometriosis (25.6%) and uterine myoma (20.2%) were the most common comorbidity in infertile women and the most common management was operative management (55%). Conclusion: Most of the infertile women in this study were primary infertility within the 25-35 years old age group and had been infertile for more than three years. The most comorbidity in infertile women were endometriosis and uterine myoma.
