Abstract
Introduction: The worldwide prevalence of anemia is high due to the low success rate of anemia control programs. Infections disease is one of the important factors related to the high prevalence of anemia, especially in women and children. In children, urinary tract infection is one of the most common infectious diseases. This study aimed to indentify the prevalence of anemia in children with urinary tract infection. Method: This descriptive observational study used secondary data of urinary tract infection patients in Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Hospital Palembang within period 2010through 2013. Results: The prevalence of anemia in children with urinary tract infection is 56,41% (16,03% mild, 37,82% moderate, and 2,56% severe). Conclusion: Anemia among children with urinary tract infection is a severe public health problem.
