Abstract
This study aims to describe the ability of class V A students of SD Negeri 5 Indralaya in reading nonfiction text comprehension based on Barret's Taxonomy in the subtheme of ecosystem components. This research was carried out using descriptive qualitative research methods. The data collection techniques used are tests and interviews. The results of this study show that the ability of learners to read nonfiction text comprehension based on Barret's Taxonomy is classified into the less category with an average of 52, with the breakdown of the value obtained on the literal understanding aspect is 68.9 with sufficient categories, in the rearrangement aspect is 52.5 with less categories, in the inferential understanding aspect is 66.8 with sufficient categories, in the aspect of evaluative understanding is 40.5 with the category of failing, and in the aspect of appreciation is 32.1 with the category of failing. Thus, overall, the ability of class V A students of SD Negeri 5 Indralaya in reading nonfiction text comprehension based on Barret's Taxonomy in the ecosystem component subtheme is classified as lacking. This is because students' ability to understand reading is still relatively lacking, and also because Barret's Taxonomy has never been used to measure students' reading comprehension ability so that students are not used to it.
