Abstract
Self Healing Concrete (SHC) is concrete that can do repairs independently of concrete cracks and is expected to fill pores in concrete with mineral production caused by microbial activity in the concrete. This study aims to determine the potential of Bacillus Subtilis bacteria and Bacillus Cereus bacteria in filling pores in the concrete to increase the compressive strength of concrete. The constituent materials are sand, coarse aggregate, water and a bacterial solution of 6% of the volume of water. In this research, concrete treatment was not carried out. Compressive strength testing is performed on concrete aged 7 days, 14 days and 28 days. From the results of tests conducted, the slump on SHC has a higher slump value than the control concrete, but not too significant because the bacterial solution used has the same characteristics as water. Concrete compressive strength test results, SHC which uses Bacillus Cereus bacteria have a greater increase in concrete compressive strength at 28 days which is 14.41% compared to SHC that uses Bacillus Subtilis bacteria which is only 10.4% when compared to control concrete. This is reinforced by SEM and EDS testing, in this test the SHC which uses the Bacillus Cereus bacteria has an average smaller concrete pore size of 7.23 µm compared to the SHC which uses the Bacillus Subtilis bacteria which is 8.14 µm and as large as 8.14 µm and control concrete 12.67 µm.
