Abstract

Introduction: Scabies is a skin disease caused by infestation and sensitization against S. Scabiei mites hominis variants. These mites usually live and breed in thin and moist skin. The goal of this study is to know the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negatif predictive value SCAB method and skin scraping for S. Scabiei examination. Methods: This study is a diagnostic test research that compared scab and skin scrapings that was used as the gold Standard for the examination of S. scabiei. Sampling method was purposive sampling was 152 samples that fiil the inclusion criteria. Results: From the examination results of skin scrapings 8 (5,3%) subjects with positive results of Sarcoptes scabiei and the SCAB method obtained 5 (3,3%) subjects with positive results of Sarcoptes scabiei. From these results SCAB has 62,5% sensitivity. Kappa test results between SCAB method and skin scrapings showed 0,759 (good). Conclusion: from the examination results of SCAB method had sensitivity 62,5%, this is showed that probability scabies patient not infected was 37,5%. SCAB specificity In this study was 100% so there is no possibility not scabies patient infected by scabies. SCAB positive predictive value was 100% this is showed that examination subject infected by SCAB, possibility examination subject infected by disease was 100%. Negative predictive value was 97,9% so negative result of patient with SCAB examination showed probability patient not infected by scabies.
