Abstract

Background: Child’s development is the uprise of child’s ability and body function with a predictable regular pattem. One of the main factors of child’s development is child’s nutritional status. Distribution, determinant, and dynamic analysis between nutritional status and child’s development is important to be done. Objective: The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between nutritional status and child’s development of hospitalized children m Mohammad Hoesin Hospital. Method: This analytical observational study using a cross sectional approach was conducted at Pediatric Department Mohammad Hoesin Hospital Palembang. KPSP (Kuisioner Pra-skrining Perkembangan) is used as a child’s developmental screening quistionnaire for 3-72 month children and anthropometric measurement was done to determine child’s nutritional status. Results: Total subject in this study is 141 children that consisted of 100 male (70.9%) and 41 female (29,1%). KPSP results is 98 (69,5%) children had a normal development, and 32 (22,7%) subjects had a delayed development. Nutritional status that was measured by W/H, shown that 13 (9,2%) subjects had malnutrition. There is a relationship between nutritional status and development status (p=0.000; OR: 1.075; CI95%: 0.269-4.296). Conclusion: There is a relationship between nutritional status and development of hospitalized children at Pediatric Ward Mohammad Hoesin Hospital Palembang.
