Abstract

Introduction: Disorders of sex development (DSD) is known as congenital abnormality that shows an abnormal growth of the genitalia by atypical chromosomal, gonadal and anatomical. The diagnosis itself is taken from not only clinical findings, but also obtained from a few additional examinations such as chromosome analysis, biochemical tests, radiology, and laboratory tests; one of which is hormone level test. Hormone levels can be a characteristic or indicator of gonadal and adrenal function, and can also identify the possible pathogenesis underlying DSD. Hormone level testing is a very useful diagnostic tool, but has not been done quite enough in Indonesia. So, this study is expected to help the diagnosis of DSD patients at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Method: This study is an observational descriptive study with cross-sectional design. It uses secondary data from medical records of patients with DSD at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang, and selected through inclusion and exclusion criteria. Result: From 22 samples that passes the inclusion criteria, it shows that most DSD patients are in the age of early childhood (27,3%) dan are mostly females (54,5%). The data also showed 19 variations of DSD and are majorly salt wasting CAH (13,6%). The most examined hormone was testosterone. Conclusion: Patient with DSD in Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang showed the results of various hormonal tests which described the pattern of hormone profile in 19 variations of clinical findings of genital organs.
