Abstract
Essay correction system for factoid questions is a system that can help the learning process in schools by assisting teachers in providing assessments of exam results with essay answers, especially factoid answers. In this study, an answer correction system was developed using the Rabin-Karp algorithm and Cosine Similarity which aims to compare student answers with the answer keys prepared by the teacher by looking at the similarity value. The data used in the system is secondary data in the form of grade 5 citizenship test results at SDN 170 Palembang. It is tested by submitting student answers into the system database and then all the resulting values are analyzed using the Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE). The MAPE score of the total student score is 13.242% while the MAPE score of each student's answers is 13.276%. Based on the test results, the Rabin-Karp and Cosine Similarity methods can be used and applied to correcting factoid essay answers.
