Abstract

Background: High stress-filled life events can lead to the emergence of a psychiatric disorder, including schizophrenia. One type of schizophrenia is visual hallucinations. These hallucinations can be controlled by several implementation strategies including drawing therapy. Purpose: This writing aims to describe psychiatric nursing care in patients with sensory perception disorders; visual hallucinations at the Dr. Ernaldi Bahar Mental Hospital Palembang. Methods: The writing of this scientific work uses a qualitative descriptive method in the form of a case study. Results: There are three nursing problems in the three patients under management which consist of one main problem, namely sensory perception disorders: visual hallucinations. The interventions provided were in the form of strategies for implementing hallucinations and drawing occupational therapy. After being given nursing interventions, it was found that there was a decrease in the frequency and duration of the appearance of visual hallucinations in the three clients. Conclution: The three managed patients were given nursing care which consisted of assessment, nursing diagnosis, intervention, implementation and evaluation. The nursing implications of drawing occupational therapy show that there is a decrease in visual hallucinations and an increase in the ability to control hallucinations in managed patients
