Abstract

The Solanaceae family is a group of vegetable plants that are widely grown in Indonesia, both in the lowlands and highlands. Several types of solanaceous plants that are often cultivated are chilies, eggplants, and tomatoes. This can happen because of the high consumer interest in chili and eggplant. However, the successful cultivation of solanaceous crops is still constrained by the infestation of Plant Disturbing Organisms (OPT). OPT can cause damage and loss to farmers. Several pests and diseases that are commonly found on chili and eggplant are Bactrocera sp. and anthracnose. There are many ways of control measures that can be applied by farmers to suppress OPT attacks. However, in controlling pests and diseases we must also pay attention to the sustainability of the existing ecology and ecosystem. The application of IPM in controlling pests and diseases can suppress OPT and also keep ecosystem conditions well maintained because they are environmentally friendly. In addition, the yield of the crops will be safer for consumption by consumers or the farmers themselves.
