Abstract

Lightweight Concrete merupakan inovasi beton yang mampu mengurangi bobot bangunan yang memiliki berat jenis 300 kg/m3 sampai 1.850 kg/m3 sehingga beton ringan tersebut rawan terhadap bencana gempa. Lightweight concrete dapat dibuat dengan menambahkan foaming agent dan bahan pengganti agregat seperti expanded polystyrene. Foaming agent merupakan bahan pembuat busa dan beton yang dihasilkan ringan serta mampu mengurangi berat jenis beton. Expanded polystyrene merupakan gabus putih kecil yang ringan sehingga mempunyai kemampuan daya serap air yang sangat kecil. Komposisi lightweight concrete terdiri dari Ordinary Portland Cement, air, foam agent, serat polypropylene mono fiber dan expanded polystyrene. Penelitian ini menggunakan variasi polypropylene mono fiber dengan ukuran 20 mm. Pada variasi ini menggunakan rasio semen dan expanded polystyrene sebesar 1:2,75 ; 1:2,50 dan 1:2,25. Pengujian yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini adalah soprivity test yang bertujuan untuk melihat kenaikkan massa yang konstan terhadap lightweight expanded polystyrene concrete dan serat polypropylene mono fiber selama 10 hari.
