Abstract

Gempa bumi merupakan salah satu bencana alam yang kerap terjadi di Indonesia. Salah satu inovasi yang dapat diterapkan untuk mengurangi dampak dari gempa adalah penggunaan beton dengan berat jenis yang rendah pada konstruksi bangunan. Beton ringan memiliki berat jenis tidak lebih dari 1.800 kg/m3. Beton ringan (lightweight concrete) tersusun atas air, semen (ordinary portland cement), foaming agent, dan agregat kasar yang biasanya menggunakan batu pecah menjadi expanded polystyrene. EPS atau expanded polystyrene berbentuk seperti butiran-butiran kecil berwarna putih yang didalamnya berisi gas pentane (C5H12) yang digunakan untuk menurunkan nilai berat jenis yang dimiliki oleh beton. Faktor air dan semen yang digunakan sebesar 0,485 dengan perbandingan semen dan agregat sebesar 1:2,75. Lightweight concrete ini juga diberikan tambahan polypropylene waved fiber yang memiliki ukuran sebesar 20 mm dan 50 mm. Penambahan polypropylene waved fiber betujuan untuk mengetahui adanya pengaruh terhadap sifat fisik dan sifat mekanik dari lightweight expanded polystyrene concrete setelah benda uji melalui proses curing selama 7 hari dan 28 hari.
