Abstract

Lightweight concrete adalah beton yang menggunakan agregat baik agregat kasar maupun agregat halus yang ringan dan mempunyai berat jenis kurang dari 1.900 kg/m3 sehingga beton tersebut mampu mengurangi resiko gempa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami dan menganalisis pengaruh polypropylene mesh fiber terhadap sifat fisik dan mekanik lightweight concrete. Polypropylene mesh fiber terdiri dari satu variasi panjang sehingga pada analisis data digunakan beton normal sebagai pembandingnya. Lightweight concrete dapat dibuat dengan berbagai cara, seperti penambahan foam dan menggunakan agregat ringan. Agregat yang digunakan adalah pasir. Komposisi lightweight concrete terdiri dari Ordinary Portland Cement, pasir, air, foam agent, dan polypropylene mesh fiber. Perbandingan komposisi yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah 1 : 2,75 untuk semen dan agregat, 1 : 40 untuk foaming agent dan air, dan faktor air dan semen yang digunakan sebesar 0,485. Perawatan beton (curing) dilakukan dengan menyelimuti beton dengan karung goni yang dibasahi selama 7 dan 28 hari. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan pengaruh penambahan polypropylene fiber pada pengujian kuat tekan, modulus elastisitas, dan kuat tarik belah lebih besar dibandingkan dengan beton normal yang tanpa serat.
