Abstract

Latar belakang permasalahan dalam penelitian ini adalah rendahnya kemampuan representasi matematis siswa di SMPN 6 Indralaya Utara dalam bentuk visual, verbal, dan simbolik. Penerapan model CTL dapat dijadikan solusi untuk permasalahan tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa pada materi relasi dan fungsi setelah diterapkan model Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL). Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif dengan analisis data secara kuantitatif dan kualitatif sesuai dengan indikator representasi matematis. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMPN 6 Indralaya Utara di kelas VII.3 dengan melibatkan sebanyak 22 orang siswa sebagai subjek. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan 2 butir soal tes tertulis dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan persentase banyak siswa yang berada pada kategori tinggi sebanyak 31,82%, sedang 50%, dan rendah 18,18%. Sedangkan, skor rata-rata kemunculan representasi matematis tertinggi terdapat pada representasi verbal sebesar 57,95, representasi simbolik sebesar 56,81, dan representasi visual sebesar 52,27. Hasil data tes menunjukkan bahwa siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita materi relasi dan fungsi dimulai dengan representasi verbal yaitu menuliskan informasi soal dilanjutkan dengan simbolik, lalu visual.
