Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of risk governance and banking risk factors on financial performance in the banking industry in Indonesia. Panel data regression analysis for the 2011-2020 period for 52 commercial banks in Indonesia was carried out using Ordinary Least Square (OLS) estimation. The bank's financial performance is proxied by return on assets (ROA) and return on equity (ROE). Bank risk governance factors include the size of the Board of Commissioners and the size of the risk committee. Furthermore, banking risk factors which include credit risk, market risk, liquidity risk, and operational risk are used as independent variables. The results of the study show that risk governance factors have a significant positive effect on financial performance, except for risk committee size which has no significant effect and is negatively related to ROA and ROE financial performance. Banking risk factors have a significant effect on financial performance.
