Abstract

The use of concrete material has the advantages of being effective and efficient in its implementation, the use of concrete will one day lead to a scarcity of its constituent materials. Therefore, efforts to find alternative materials have been started. One of them is the development of artificial aggregates based on Fly Ash. Fly Ash is not able to bind concrete like cement, but with a mixture of water and fine-sized particles, plus silica oxide in Fly Ash and through a chemical process with calcium hydroxide due to the cement hydration process, and given treatment it will produce a substance with the ability to bind . So in this study used materials such as Fly Ash, Bentonite, Lime, Water, and treatment methods, namely Autoclaved and Cold Bonding. So that the test objects that have been tested get the following results: the mixture with the best curing method is the Cold Bonding treatment method with the highest compressive strength value of 13 MPa, the smallest impact value is 38%, the smallest density value is 919 kg/m3, the smallest water absorption value is 35%. While the mixture with the Autoclaved treatment method obtained the highest compressive strength value of 8 MPa, the smallest impact value of 34%, the smallest density value of 945 kg/m3, and the smallest water absorption value of 33%.
