Abstract

This research aimed to determine the the effect of the use electrolyte hydrogel of peg on the performance of dye sensitized solar cell with water hyacinth dye extract. The selected PEG were PEG 4000 dan PEG 6000 at the concentrations of 5%, 10% and 15% (w/v). This research was carried out from October 2022 to December 2022 at the Energy Electrification Laboratory and Chemical Laboratory of Agricultural Products, Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. Analysis data was carried out by using descriptive method. The obtained data was tabulated and plotted in graphs. This study measured the absorbance of chlorophyll of water hyacinth leaf by using a UV-VIS spectrophotometer. The electrical performance of DSSC was measured by using a multimeter which was carried out under a light source of halogen lamp. The parameters observed in this study were dye absorbance, current and voltage, power calculation, fill factor, and DSSC efficiency. The results showed that the use of PEG-based electrolyte gel in DSSC increased the efficiency of DSSC. The best DSSC performance was obtained in the treatment with PEG-based electrolyte gel of PEG 6000 at the concentration of 15% (w/v). Its electrical characteristics were Isc: 0.133 mA, Voc: 0.698 mV, Imax: 0.0073 mA, Vmax: 0.534 mV, Pmax: 0.003898 mW, FF: 0.62856, and an efficiency of 0.021%.
