Abstract

This research aimed to study the effect of immersion water temperatures after breaking physical dormancy on increasing sunflower seed germination. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Seed Technology Sriwijaya University, Indralaya. From September to November 2022. This research was conducted using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) using 4 treatments with 5 replications, each replication contained 25 seeds. Before hydropriming, dormancy breaking is by rubbed the seed on sandpaper. The results showed that the germination rate increased in the hydropriming treatment with a temperature of 27⸰C by 42%, with the same treatment the germination rate parameter increased by 2.85. Hydropriming treatment with different water temperatures increased germination even though it had no significant effect compared to treatment without hydropriming. Hydropriming treatment of sunflower seeds with a water temperature of 27⸰C (D) for 25 minutes tends to give better results compared to higher temperatures (40⸰C, 50⸰C, and 60⸰C).
