Abstract

This study aims to determine the growth, nutritional content, and quality of organoleptic test of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) produced by biofortification of calcium (Ca) 300 ppm which is cultivated with a hydroponic system. The research was carried out at the Hydroponics House, Department of Agricultural Cultivation, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra from February to April 2021. The results of the addition of Ca 300 ppm had an effect on the nutritional content of lettuce plants that were cultivated hydroponically on floating rafts from the increase in the higher calcium content, namely 2,98% of 100 grams of lettuce while the control treatment was 1,67% of 100 grams of lettuce plants, the total sugar content in the addition of Ca 300 ppm was 3,4% of 100 grams while the treatment control 4.4% of 100 grams of lettuce, crude fiber content at the addition of Ca 300 ppm was 8.84% of 100 grams of lettuce while the control treatment was 8.77% of 100 grams of lettuce and vitamin C levels were added Ca 300 ppm is 7.03% of 100 grams of lettuce while the control treatment is 3.49% of 100 grams of lettuce. In addition to the results of the good nutritional content of the addition of Ca 300 ppm, the response of the panelists to the organoleptic test was also good, in the sense that the lettuce plants from the biofortification were acceptable to the public.
