Abstract

Water apple is a type of commodity that is often found in Indonesia. Water apple farmers in Tebing Gerinting Village are the main occupation of some of the people there, meaning that water apple farmers have a very good understanding of the process of running a farming business, marketing channels and know how to faced the problems in water apple farming. The aims of this study were (1) to analyze the income contribution of water apple farming, farming other than water apple and outside of agriculture to the total income of farmer households in Tebing Gerinting Utara Village, Indralaya Selatan District, (2) to analyze how the household expenses of water apple farmers in Tebing Gerinting Utara Village, Indralaya Selatan District, (3) Analyzing whether water apple farmers in Tebing Gerinting Utara Village, Indralaya Selatan District are prosperous. The research location is in Tebing Gerinting Utara Village, South Indralaya District, South Indralaya Regency. The time of the research was carried out in November 2022. The data collection method used a survey method with questionnaires and interviews with a total of 30 farmer respondents whose main livelihood is water apple farming. The data processing method used is farm income analysis, household income analysis, food expenditure share analysis and good service ratio analysis which are tabulated and explained descriptively. The results obtained from the following research are (1) The largest contribution to household income of water apple farmers in Tebing Gerinting Utara Village comes from the water apple farming income sector with an average total income of IDR 11,529,355 or 53,64 percent of the total farm household income. Farming income other than water apple is IDR 941,713 per year or 4.40 percent and outside of agriculture income is IDR 9,023,571 per year or 41,98 percent of total household income. (2) The household expenses of water apple farmers in Tebing Gerinting Utara Village were divided into two, that is for food and non-food items with an average total expenditure of IDR 12,518,200 per year and an average total household income of IDR 21,494,639. (3) From the results of the PPP and GSR tests, concluded that water apple farmers in Tebing Gerinting Utara Village were able to buy and comply the main needs of their households and economically the farmer's household was considered to be prosperous.
