Abstract

The planting medium will determine whether the growth of plants is good or bad, which in turn affects production. Some planting media that can be used are husk charcoal, compost and ultisol. The purpose of this study was to find the best planting media composition for caisim plants. This study used a completely randomized design with 5 treatment levels which were repeated 4 times so that there were 20 experimental units. The composition of the planting medium tested in this study included 50% ultisol : 50% husk charcoal, 50% ultisol : 37.5% husk charcoal : 12.5% compost, 50% ultisol : 25% husk charcoal : 25% compost, 50 % ultisol : 12.5% husk charcoal : 37.5% compost, and 50% ultisol : 50% compost. The research data were then tested using ANOVA at 5% level and further tested using the BNT test at 5% level. The results showed that the composition of the growing media had a significant effect on N-Total, K-dd, P-Available, number of leaves, and caisim fresh weight. The composition of 50% ultisol + 50% compost had the best composition of growing media in increasing available NPK and caisim production.
